About Shell Photographics

Karen Shell loves challenging both sides of her brain, such as when she obtained a Fine Arts degree thanks to her Academic Scholarship. She enjoys problem solving and creating, the intellectual and the creative. Passion fuels her creative vision; practical thinking gets the job done.

With her photography degree plus three years experience assisting some of the nation's top photographers, Karen founded Shell Photographics in 1990. Since then her numerous personal projects have been exhibited internationally, and her commercial projects have earned industry awards.

A tireless work ethic cultivates her uncompromising professionalism and proven technical expertise. She has a sterling reputation of always exceeding clients’ expectations. 'Peace of mind,' that is what her Clients receive throughout every project, big or small.

Shell Photographics thoroughly handles every step of even the largest productions, from talent casting to concept collaboration and every production component in between. Karen brings more than experience, knowledge and creativity to the set. She brings resourcefulness, enthusiasm and insightfulness.

Karen is also an experience maker and fun creator. She believes that powerful images are created when subjects, clients and crew are enjoying the experience. She smiles - a lot. Her generosity of spirit and passionate outlook on life are what make her a brilliant photographer.

Alongside her successful professional career, Karen has been an extremely active volunteer for homeless and at-risk children since the mid-90's. Karen also regularly explores the planet, near and far, from diving the ocean depths to climbing the summits of glacial peaks.
